Donation Pool

+

A donation pool is a donation target which is set to disperse donations to other donation targets.

By default, a newly created donation target points all incoming donations to the owner of that Page.

Perhaps this could be renamed to something like “forwarded funds” or something.

WeWrite could suggest the creation of a donation pool based on a Page's backlinks.

Example uses

  • Broadly speaking, Users could set up donation pools to point to the Page's dependency tree

  • User creates a Category called "My fav journalists" and other users begin donating to this category page

  • WeWrite creates a Page called "WeWrite Revenue Share" inside a Category called "WeWrite Financials" which disperses a percentage of the incoming funds to some early investors and technical contributors

  • Replacing OpenCollective’s Back Your Stack functionality

Editing a Pool

Editing a pool, which is part of the metadata of a donation targets, should have the same flow as editing the body content of the donation target.

That being said, most edits will require approval by default, and an irreconcilable disagreement between a proposed edit and the creator could result in a split or a fork of that pool into a brand new page.
